Merritt Onsa has a passion for women to know their identity and worth in Jesus. As host of The Devoted Dreamers Podcast she interviews women about how they are creatively pursuing their God-shaped dreams. These conversations include real-talk about the fears and challenges we all feel when we do courageous things that pull us outside our comfort zone. This is the place that fuels Merritt’s fire to share these stories and remind us that the fear is normal—we all feel it—and yet it doesn’t have to halt our flourishing and, in fact, it is often the thing that draws us closer to the Lord. Merritt and her home-brewing, community-building husband, Todd, live with their young daughter in Colorado’s Front Range.

During her early and teenage years, Elisabeth developed two passions: one for all things creative and one for using her privileges and resources to help empower people out of difficult situations. Her life was a back-and-forth cat's cradle game of choosing between these two passions. Writing blogs and books, traveling to places like Haiti regularly, leading worship ministries at home, writing published articles on the importance of helping others, and co-founding Trades of Hope at 15 years-old.

Because of her journey as a Trades of Hope founder, she has become an advocate for hope: hope for every human, in every situation. No matter how dark it is, no matter how bleak and hopeless, she believes that there is always more light, always more good, always more hope, and it’s worth fighting for. Elisabeth harbors within her an all-encompassing belief that every human being deserves to feel the warmth of grace and hope.

Since childhood, Joanna Waterfall has been a creator. While her methods have changed some from the forts she made as a kid, her fascination and love for the world has not. Growing up Joanna’s parents encouraged her love for art which lead her to pursue it as her major in college. She started working for herself as a graphic designer, but was inspired by people integrating purpose into their work. Looking around at the creative community and seeing an excess of competition and comparison, Joanna set out to create a community where women can be inspired by purpose and connectivity. With that the Yellow Conference was born.

I have truly enjoyed getting to know Joanna and I’m so excited for you to get to do the same! In today’s conversation you’ll get to hear about how the Yellow Conference was created, more on the process of turning a passion project into a career, and of course the Enneagram snuck its way into the conversation (a norm in my life!).  Joanna speaks on how empathy can be both her biggest strength and weakness and how it transforms her role in leadership.

Joanna’s humble, compassionate personality allowed me to take a step back from self-placed pressure and just relax. I hope it does the same for you!

This week I get the joy of chatting with Rachel Joy, founder of the Sparrow Conference! She is a mom of four, a pastor’s wife, and the Founder and Director of Sparrow Conference - a catalytic gathering connecting young women to Jesus, the Bible, one another and the local church. She has lead and taught Bible studies for over fifteen years because it’s Rachel’s passion to see young women come to the powerful, saving grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.  It is her joy to point to Jesus because in Him alone do we find truth, freedom, identity and purpose. Rachel describes her life as busy, loud, crazy and she absolutely loves it! You will often find her drinking far too much coffee, having a dance party with her little ones, writing for fun and having a good, long dinner with folks from church or the neighborhood. Rachel calls The Village Church in Highland Village, Texas home.
